Claus Jensen Chess

- I love chess, it's really as simple as that!

Jan, 13th 2012

Dear chess lover. We're only a few weeks into the new year and we already have one of the events of the year - Tata Steel Chess 2012!
GM group A is many of the top players of the world (except Anand and Kramnik) spiced up with the local players Giri and Van Wely.

I plan to do video analysis of some of the games very soon.

Test Yourself Videos
This is my classic video series from 2008 :) You will be taken through a master game and asked to find every move for the winning side. Have pen and paper ready to note the score that I award you after each move. At the end of the video I will tell you the maximum score for the game.
If you really spend a few minutes on each move, I believe the scoring percentages translate into ELO rating roughly like this:

30% = 1100 ELO
40% = 1300 ELO
50% = 1500 ELO
60% = 1700 ELO
70% = 1900 ELO
80% = 2100 ELO

Scoring could of course vary a lot from game to game, but over time the above should be close to the truth :)

Silman's Thinking Technique Videos
This is a video series on the Silman Thinking Technique which is explained in detail in Jeremy Silman's highly recommandable book: Reassess Your Chess
I have tried to find some game examples where a good plan is needed and then tried to use the Silman Technique to find the right plan.
