My name is Claus Jensen, which wasn’t too hard to guess, was it?
I’m 44 years old, married for 17 years, and father of 2 daughters aged 18 and 16.
We live in a suburbian area of Copenhagen, Denmark.
I work as a retail manager and in my spare time I spend a lot of time on the internet playing online chess, doing chess videos and very rarely I do a little webdesigning.
While having a break from online play I spent a little time figuring out how to record chess videos. When I found out that this is actually quite easy I started doing analysises of some of my games but also started doing video series called “Test Yourself” inspired by Bent Larsen’s book series “Find Mestertrækket” which translates to “Find the master’s move”.
Recently I have started doing a video series on Bent Larsen’s games. They are very instructive and I believe players on all levels will find these videos both educating and entertaining.
I plan do doa lot more videos on Bent Larsen in the future…
My background:
I learned to play chess at the age of 5. My grandfather was teaching me the game and I was interested right away. In primary school I attended the local club and this is where I learned all the basics of chess. I was probably not the most talented pupil, but I was dedicated and did reasonably well in regional school tournaments. Growing up I became a teacher in the same school club that I attended years before and I also started playing in a “real” chess club. My rating rose steadily at that time (peaking at ~2050), but when I was about to graduate from college I had to make a decision: Studies or chess? I chose the studies…
For more than 20 years I played very rarely, but still read a book from time to time. 5 years ago, I rediscovered the fun of actually playing chess and in the following years I spent way too much time playing chess online!
Until march 2008 I was playing on redhotpawn.com under the handle cludi, which is my family nickname. I got very engaged on that site and enjoyed the community and my chess for almost 4 years there. After a lot of controversy I was banned from the site in august 2008. After that incident I took a break from online chess and then, march 2009, started playing on chess.com under the same handle - cludi.
